Executive Chef Simon Radley

Manchester born Simon Radley’s first introduction to The Chester Grosvenor was at just 21 years of age in 1986, as a junior chef.

During his long affiliation with the hotel Simon has taken time out on several occasions to broaden his experience including 12 months working under Chef Paul Gayler at Inigo Jones in Covent Garden, London, and stints at other leading hotels.

Simon returned to The Chester Grosvenor in 1988 at the request of the Managing Director, to head up the opening of the new gourmet restaurant Arkle. Two years later the Arkle was awarded a much coveted Michelin star for the first time.

Twenty years on Simon has truly established his mark on the hotel, attaining an enviable reputation for excellence. The restaurant has retained its Michelin star since 1990 and has been awarded four rosettes by the AA. 

In 2008 Simon’s name became synonymous with the hotel’s reputation for outstanding cuisine and service, with the newly refurbished restaurant being renamed ‘Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor’ in recognition of the culinary expertise of this highly respected chef.

Also under Simon’s direction are the award-winning La Brasserie and the thriving meetings and events side of the hotel’s business where the cuisine is created with the same ethos, technique, design and attention to detail as the gourmet food in his signature restaurant.

Simon places great importance on using the very finest produce with an increasing emphasis on sourcing ingredients from and forming partnerships with regional producers.
