'The Gallery' is the newest addition to the hotel and an area which offers a new perspective to our guests.
Situated on the first floor, 'The Gallery' is a space where guests can admire the magnificent Georgian chandelier, paintings and the grandeur of the main staircase whilst relaxing and reading the paper, enjoying afternoon tea or holding a business meeting.
The chandelier bought from London's Junior Carlton Club in 1966 for £15,000 has 28,000 pieces of crystal and weighs half a ton!
The paintings on the walls around 'The Gallery' are owned by the family of The Duke of Westminster. 'Doncaster', the painting of the horse which overlooks 'The Gallery' was painted in 1875 by British artist, Charles Augustus Henry Lutyens. 'A putto seated on a tasselled cushion' is also attributed to Charles Lutyens.
'The Convent Gate', an unfinished work by John Philip was aquired by the estate in 1972. The 'Portrait of a Young Girl' was painted by a follower of Sir John Everett Millais, an English painter and illustrator and one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. 'Landscape and Waterfall', an oil on canvas is by artist, Walter E Ellis.
