Our Arkle restaurant and kitchen teams have demonstrated incredible amounts of teamwork and dedication during the rebrand of the refined dining restaurant, which has led to our nomination.

Our impressive team at the , led by executive chef Elliot Hill, have flourished following COVID-19, leading to our award nomination.Arkle



After the departure of Simon Radley, the former executive chef, our restaurant team showcased their determination and commitment to the hotel. As the rebrand of the restaurant was taking place, our team at the Arkle lended their experience and expertise to helping the wider areas of the hotel, including housekeeping and La Brasserie



To aid in the transformation of the restaurant, Elliot Hill joined our talented team in 2022 alongside our head chef, Ray Booker and executive sous chef, Sam Griffiths. 



Thanks to the leadership of the team, our kitchen staff have progressed past the previous uncertainties of the pandemic and a staff shortage, working together to establish a re-considered direction for the restaurant that maintains our previous high standards. 



In addition to this, our front of house team at the Arkle, led by restaurant manager Aga Szopa, have banded together to develop their skills. This has resulted in a stellar and professional front-of-house team that have been praised by guests and customers alike, providing some of the best reviews of our hotel thus far.

As the rebranding of the Arkle took place, our staff committed themselves to six months of training and menu preparation, which led to the opening night of the Arkle heralding an impressive reception. 



Alongside the top-quality customer service from the front-of-house team, guests were delighted by the new and sophisticated food offering that had been developed tirelessly by Elliot and his team.



With the rebranding complete, the Arkle has since welcomed more than 1,500 guests within the first three months. A tribute to the success of our team, our restaurant remains fully-booked and operates on full capacity during both peak and off-peak periods.



A reflection on their hardwork and dedication, the team have received a myriad of superb TripAdvisor and Google Reviews, which reinforce the positive result of their passion and commitment to the rebranding of the Arkle.



Our team has also benefited from the challenges they have had to overcome during the period of rebranding. While working towards the newly finished restaurant, the team had to maintain strength and willingness during supply chain shortages and widespread staffing issues. 



However, due to finding success through these difficulties, the team have developed and honed their skills, becoming a strong and committed group that work together to elevate the standard of refined dining in the local area.

Throughout this process, we have been amazed time and time again by the talents and dedication of our staff. 



We have been incredibly proud to witness the Arkle team use their initiative to provide cross-training between the kitchen staff and restaurant teams, ensuring that everyone is able to offer support or be supported when necessary, as well as learning what is needed for each individual role. 



In addition, two of our chefs at the Arkle took it upon themselves to integrate their other talents into the restaurant, working together to photograph dishes to feature across social media.



The Arkle team has also shifted their focus to how they can increase revenue in the restaurant by observing patterns and changing elements of the menu. 



At The Chester Grosvenor, we truly believe that the proactive and customer-focused initiative shown by the Arkle team makes them incredibly deserving of the Team of the Year award from Boutique Hotelier. Thanks to their unwavering commitment and hard work, we have managed to completely transform the Arkle restaurant and witness its multiple successes that would not have been achievable without our fantastic team.
