Liverpool cotton merchant Arthur Kilpin Bulley created these stunning gardens in 1898, part of which he opened to local residents.
After his death, the gardens were presented to the University of Liverpool and the commitment to maintain and develop the beauty of the gardens continues but there is an increasing emphasis on research and conservation.
The gardens now offer a great range of activities and events for all.
