Key Responsibilities

Supporting the La Brasserie team, the Host / Hostess will charismatically meet and greet all who enter our 2AA Rosette restaurant.  You will be responsible for administration tasks associated with bookings, menu planning and payments along with ensuring that a seamless service is delivered.  We are seeking a team player who can anticipate service requirements and assist the team with a variety of ad hoc duties when necessary.

Chef Apprenticeship

To ensure that we have dedicated apprentices that are the stars of the future, each apprentice that is short listed will be interviewed and selected by Simon personally to join his team.

You will have the chance to earn while you learn alongside talented and innovative chefs.

The Commis Chef Apprenticeship is open to anyone from school leavers to those simply looking for a change in career. No previous experience is necessary, all we ask is for lots of enthusiasm, team spirit and the drive to succeed!

The length of the programme is 12 to 18 months.  Learners have achieved level one or two in maths and English or must attend extra support to enable successful completion of the course, working towards a pass or distinction grading.

A range of skills and behaviours will be developed throughout the programme, using a variety of approaches both in and out of the kitchen environment.

Culinary skills– craft preparation, cooking skills and techniques to prepare, produce and present dishes and menu items in line with the business requirements, your journey will enable you to build the foundations of knowledge and flourish.

Food Safety –this is of paramount importance! You will understand all food safety requirements and the law regarding this within the kitchen. You will expand your knowledge with the importance of allergens, safe systems of work and safe work practices.

Menus– working with some of the finest ingredients and local produce available, you will quickly learn how seasonality fits into availability, quality and price of ingredients.

Your bespoke training

-Offering a diverse and comprehensive apprenticeship, you will work 5 days across 7 within either the La Brasserie, Meetings & Events, Simon Radley or Pastry Kitchen.

-20% of your qualification will take place being mentored, shadowing and learning.

-Online profiles are set up to enable you to add photographs of your work, update your workbooks and build your portfolio as a commis chef at the same time as working towards completing your apprenticeship.

-Along your journey you will be undertaking professional discussions, multiple choice tests and culinary and practical observations to help you stay on track, with the final assessment called ‘ EPA’ which we will ensure you are competent and confident to complete.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll join a busy team, responsible for delivering an exceptional guest service when carrying out cleaning tasks within guest bedrooms, guest areas and back of hotel facilities. During evening shifts you will offer a turndown service to in house guests.  Effective time management is required to turn around guest rooms and areas in line with check out/check in deadlines, whilst maintaining the highest standards of hygiene.

Desirable Candidate

Being friendly and courteous is part of your nature, along with having the drive to manage your time well. Our desired candidate is meticulous with a fine eye for detail and takes pride in their high standard of work. You will be trustworthy, well presented and professional at all times when interacting with guests and colleagues. Previous experience would be helpful, however full training will be given.

We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager with an infectious personality.  A firm favourite on Chester’s dining scene for more than 20 years, La Brasserie sits at the heart of the city-centre and acts as an unrivalled hot spot for people-watching, a perfect retreat in the hustle and bustle of the city.  Open seven days a week from breakfast through to after dinner liqueurs, La Brasserie faces onto busy Eastgate Street with an atmosphere to match. Serving a variety of eating experiences including the eclectic a la carte menu, early dining and casual dining menus.

We are looking for an inspiring leader who relishes in establishing strong relationships with our guests, conversing with the regulars and becoming synonymous with our hotel and valued employees.

In 2018 the restaurant had a £350,000 art deco inspired redevelopment; inclusive of exquisite furnishings, with subtle injections of colour that seamlessly compliment the painted skylight in this unique space. A bespoke brass and quartz champagne and cocktail bar, which is undoubtedly the talk of the town as one of the most opulent places to wine and dine in the city. This is mirrored with the culinary excellence of a stunning AA rosette food menu; created by former Head Chef Gareth Jones, recently appointed Head Chef Matthew Ramsdale and fellow chef brigade.

Desirable Candidate

Desirable skillset:

  • You will assist the Restaurant Manager with day to day operations.  You will have the ability to organise, motivate and inspire the team ensuring standards are always met.
  • An exceptional eye for detail in terms of presentation and delivery, ensuring retention of La Brasseries Two AA Rosettes.
  • Proven background in delivering exceptional service and a minimum of one to two years’ experience within a managerial position within an AA Rosette restaurant or 4 - 5 star hotel level.
  • You will have sound experience in managing staff within the hospitality sector and the natural ability to maintain a professional demeanor throughout the dining experience.
  • A leader from the floor, inspiring your team, engaging with guests, with the ability to multi task and seek creative solutions.
  • The desired candidate will have fantastic food and beverage knowledge and/or WSET qualifications.

Our Front of House team are the nucleus of the hotel, responsible for the guests' all-important first impressions and their asting memories.  Striving to make each individual guest’s stay as joyful as possible through friendly, conscientious and thoughtful service.

Two opportunities have arisen at The Chester Grosvenor to join the Front of House team as a Senior Receptionist working 5 shifts across 7 days per week.  

You’ll join an extremely talented team, who are the faces of The Chester Grosvenor Hotel. You will be responsible for ensuring that a warm and friendly welcome is given to guests during check in and departure.

 

Desirable Candidate

You must be friendly and outgoing with the ability to strike up a conversation with those whom enter the hotel. You will be professional and courteous with the ability to recognise those who need additional assistance. Our ideal candidate will be alert, conscientious and professional with experience with Opera systems and recent experience in customer service.

The desirable candidate will have experience in hotel Reception or Reservations with proven success in team supervision.  Alternatively we are looking for an experienced Hotel Receptionist who is ready to take the next step in their career.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, knowledgeable full time bartender for our La Brasserie Champagne and Cocktail Bar. La Brasserie is the real hub of The Chester Grosvenor and requires someone with experience working in a high volume operation.

You will aid in the seamless running of the bar and restaurant by providing a cheerful, confident and efficient service to our guests, with an observant eye for detail. We anticipate that you will have previously worked in a cocktail bar environment. You should possess a sound working knowledge on cocktails, wines and spirits with the ability to upsell and make suitable recommendations to guests. The position includes a range shift patterns including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Part time opportunities are available for existing or aspiring Waiters, Waitresses and Bar Staff within our opulent meetings, events and private dining settings. Reporting to the Meetings and Events management team, you will assist in the set-up of events and delivery of food and beverage services to a high standard. Days and hours of work depend on the scheduling of events with the additional opportunity to work in other restaurants within the hotel.
