We are recruiting for an outstanding Spa Therapist to join our award winning team. The SR Academy nurtures young talent by offering ten apprenticeship places each year. Each place within the academy is highly sought after, so we ask that you are committed and passionate about becoming a chef, the rest we can will help you with!

Commis Chef Apprenticeship

To ensure that we have dedicated apprentices that are the stars of the future, each apprentice that is short listed will be interviewed and selected by Simon personally to join his team.

You will have the chance to earn while you learn alongside talented and innovative chefs.

The Commis Chef Apprenticeship is open to anyone from school leavers to those simply looking for a change in career. No previous experience is necessary, all we ask is for lots of enthusiasm, team spirit and the drive to succeed!

The length of the programme is 15 to 18 months.Learners have achieved level one or two in maths and English or must attend extra support to enable successful completion of the course, working towards a pass or distinction grading.

A range of skills and behaviours will be developed throughout the programme, using a variety of approaches both in and out of the kitchen environment.

Culinary skills– craft preparation, cooking skills and techniques to prepare, produce and present dishes and menu items in line with the business requirements, your journey will enable you to build the foundations of knowledge and flourish.

Food Safety –this is of paramount importance! You will understand all food safety requirements and the law regarding this within the kitchen. You will expand your knowledge with the importance of allergens, safe systems of work and safe work practices.

Menus– working with some of the finest ingredients and local produce available, you will quickly learn how seasonality fits into availability, quality and price of ingredients.

Your bespoke training

-Offering a diverse and comprehensive apprenticeship, you will work 5 days across 7 within either the La Brasserie, Meetings & Events, Simon Radley or Pastry Kitchen.

-20% of your qualification will take place being mentored, shadowing and learning.

-Online profiles are set up to enable you to add photographs of your work, update your workbooks and build your portfolio as a commis chef at the same time as working towards completing your apprenticeship.

-Along your journey you will be undertaking professional discussions, multiple choice tests and culinary and practical observations to help you stay on track, with the final assessment called ‘ EPA’ which we will ensure you are competent and confident to complete.

Our Front of House team are the nucleus of the hotel, responsible for the guests' all-important first impressions and their asting memories.  Striving to make each individual guest’s stay as joyful as possible through friendly, conscientious and thoughtful service.

An opportunity has arisen at The Chester Grosvenor to join the Front of House team as a Receptionist working 3 /4 shifts across 7 days per week.  24 hours per week.

You’ll join an extremely talented team, who are the faces of The Chester Grosvenor Hotel . You will be responsible for ensuring that a warm and friendly welcome is given to guests during check in and departure.

Desirable Candidate

You must be friendly and outgoing with the ability to strike up a conversation with those whom enter the hotel. You will be professional and courteous with the ability to recognise those who need additional assistance. Our ideal candidate will be alert, conscientious and professional with experience with Opera systems and recent experience in customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Our Demi Chef de Partie will work under the leadership of the Chef de Partie within our Meetings and Events kitchen. You will be nurtured to develop your skills working on a variety of sections within a professional environment. With excellent time management and communication skills you will be in tune with other sections, delivering your element of a dish to produce food in a high pressure environment.

You will be passionate about cookery and relish working within a fast paced environment. You will have creative flair and will be committed to expanding your existing skill set under the wings of the most professional chefs in hospitality. Our desirable candidate has charisma, character and thrives in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Part time opportunities are available for existing or aspiring Waiters, Waitresses and Bar Staff within our opulent meetings, events and private dining settings. Reporting to the Meetings and Events management team, you will assist in the set-up of events and delivery of food and beverage services to a high standard. Days and hours of work depend on the scheduling of events with the additional opportunity to work in other restaurants within the hotel.

Desirable Candidate

We're looking for someone with enthusiasm, immaculate personal presentation and a positive, outgoing personality. You'll be a terrific team player with a commitment to giving our guests a memorable experience. Previous experience would be helpful, however full training will be given.

Key Responsibilities

The Housekeeping Linen Porter is a vital member of our Housekeeping team, responsible for ensuring the linen in the hotel is removed, cleaned, and stored accurately and neatly. The Linen Porter assists the Room Attendants with the removal of linen from the guest floors and processes accordingly along with uniforms for colleagues.

Desirable Candidate
  • At least one year’s work experience is preferred
  • Good communications skills with a good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a high paced environment

 

Approximately 16 hours per week however this could be increased subject to the needs of the business.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Chester Grosvenor to join our award winning team as a Weekend Switchboard Operator.

We are proud to excel with our guest services and this means that we have an appointed hotel operator answering each telephone call made to the hotel.

Do you have an impressive telephone manner, are incredibly organised and have personality that our guests will instantly warm too? If so, we would love to hear from you!

To provide an insight into the day to day life of a Switchboard Operator, your duties would be inclusive of:

  • To answer all calls within 3 rings
  • To announce all calls to staff
  • To raise any issues to the switchboard services manager
  • To attend 1-2-1’s with your line manager on a regular basis
  • To provide Saturday Switchboard cover on a rota basis in the absence of Saturday switchboard operative
  • Undertake any other duties deemed reasonable
  • Complete all administrative tasks as requested by Line Manager
Desirable Candidate
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision – previous experience in a customer service role is required, ideally within a telephony-based role.
  • Proactive and inquisitive approach in order to build a good knowledge of the hotels products and services
  • Strong teamwork skills

  • Have a passion for providing high standard of guest service

Our Commis Chefs are responsible for the preparation of finest fresh seasonal and local produce across a variety of sections. You will be responsible for sectional cooking duties, rotating stock, adhering to the correct food temperatures, recording data, receiving deliveries and controlling wastage.  We stand out from other kitchens by offering you training, development and career progression within a 2AA Rossette / Michelin Star environment.

An opportunity has arisen at The Chester Grosvenor to join the Front of House team as a Senior Receptionist working 5 shifts across 7 days per week.  Full Time.  Maternity Cover (approximately 10 months).

You’ll join an extremely talented team, who are the faces of The Chester Grosvenor Hotel. You will be responsible for ensuring that a warm and friendly welcome is given to guests during check in and departure.

 

Desirable Candidate

You must be friendly and outgoing with the ability to strike up a conversation with those whom enter the hotel. The desirable candidate will have experience in hotel Reception or Reservations with proven success in team supervision.  Alternatively we are looking for an experienced Hotel Receptionist who is ready to take the next step in their career.
