General Manager

Richard Grove has been General Manager of our five Red Star hotel for just two years, yet, with the support of his senior team and the 225 staff that he oversees, he has made a number of fundamental changes that are cementing the future of our truly historic establishment. Richard believes that The Chester Grosvenor should always be an unforgettable experience, one where you are made to feel welcome by all, whatever your requirements: “Our team and their dedication to ensuring that all of our guests are happy and looked after really sets us apart from the rest. Simon

Executive Chef & Director of Catering

Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor has retained a prestigious Michelin star since 1990, an achievement matched by only a handful UK restaurants. Simon joined the team at in 1986 and apart from a few years gaining experience in London and the Far East, has been at the helm of the operation for over 20 years. 

A firm advocate of growing talent from within, Simon launched the ‘Simon Radley Kitchen Academy’ in 2013 to cultivate a new generation of innovative chefs: “With a dedication to excellence in everything from customer service to sourcing the finest ingredients, the restaurant represents the pinnacle of fine dining and the feeling that you are working amongst some of the finest people in the industry is clearly apparent.”

Jaime

Manager - Restaurants and Bars

Jaime oversees our complete food and beverage operation, from our Michelin starred restaurant and our private dining room 'The Cellar' to our renowned afternoon tea service and most recently the glamorous new La Brasserie and Champagne Bar. 

“I place a great amount of importance on matching the high standard of food the restaurants produce to an equally high level of service.  Attention to detail is key and I encourage my team to imagine themselves as guests to ensure they execute every single element with precision; from lighting and seating to cutlery and linen. My passionate eye for detail drives me, which is why I couldn’t be anywhere else but The Chester Grosvenor.”

Danielle

Reception Manager

Danielle has moved her way up the ranks from joining us as a Head Receptionist in 2015, later taking on the role of Guest Relations Manager and now sits as head of one of the biggest departments within the hotel.

Nothing is too much trouble for Danielle, who goes above and beyond for customers and staff alike: “Coming to work in a building as splendid as The Chester Grosvenor is an absolute pleasure. Each day is different and the diverse range of people that I get to meet and the incredible team that I work with makes everything worthwhile. Self-motivation is key but I also have a genuine passion to get all aspects of the customer experience just right for each guest that walks through the door.”

Porter

At The Chester Grosvenor, the Five Red Star experience begins before you have even stepped through the door. As the very first person that guests are greeted by as they walk into the building, the position of Front of House Linkman is held in extremely high regard. Steeped in tradition, we are one of the few hotels that has preserved this elegant and important role.

David Coates has held the position of Linkman at the hotel for almost 20 years: “The Chester Grosvenor is such a diverse place. We are very much like a family with many members of the team, myself included, having worked here with pride for a great number of years. Meeting hundreds of people a day and thousands in a week, there is never a dull moment.”
