Hospitality Career | Our New Executive Sous Chef at The Chester Grosvenor
Sam Griffiths has recently been promoted to Executive Sous Chef in the Arkle fine dining restaurant at The Chester Grosvenor. After cementing a brilliant reputation throughout his hospitality career, Sam has been recognised as a talented chef, and has risen through the ranks of the restaurant as a result.
Sam joined the team at The Chester Grosvenor as a Demi Chef de Partie in 2016, and has continued to demonstrate his talent and dedication since. His first promotion was to Senior Sous Chef in 2019 - before his recent promotion to Executive Sous Chef.
As well as this, Sam has been awarded the title of ‘National Chef of Wales’ and has recently represented Wales at the prestigious Global Chef’s Challenge in Abu Dhabi, this experience has allowed Sam to improve his culinary skills and see what he can achieve through his hospitality career.
Successes Achieved Through a Hospitality Career
After years of experience in the restaurant, Sam has gained a positive and respectable reputation within the restaurant team. He has a relaxed disposition and a keen eye for detail, both excellent character traits for the hospitality industry.
Due to his success, he is now looking to share his experience and expertise with the rest of his team as part of the launch of the newly rebranded Arkle restaurant.
He has been working alongside Executive Chef, Elliot Hill, and Head Chef, Raymond Booker, at the Arkle restaurant. Along with the rest of the team, they have been developing a high-quality tasting menu to showcase the dishes on offer and the calibre of cooking to be expected at the newly refurbished restaurant.
Sam’s Response to his Promotion
When asked about his recent promotion and experience within his hospitality career, Sam said: “I’m delighted to be embarking on the next chapter of my culinary journey. Working with the talented team at Arkle is a privilege and the amount of talent within our ranks is truly inspiring.
“As Executive Sous Chef, I will look to ensure that the standard of service is impeccable every day and will be working closely alongside Elliot - who has put his faith in me from the moment he arrived at The Chester Grosvenor. Together, we have clear ambitions of firmly placing Arkle on the culinary map and want to push ourselves and the team to produce the best food we possibly can.”

Having plenty of experience working with Sam, Elliot Hill, the executive chef at Arkle, said: “Sam is one of those chefs that have a genuine passion for what they do - and this is evident in the food he produces.
“When we relaunched Arkle, it was a very busy time for the team, however, Sam’s calming presence was crucial to our success and he has become a true role model for the junior members of our team. I am excited to see what the future has in store for Arkle and with Sam at my side, I am confident we are set for great things.”
